IU Eskenazi Museum of Art Acquires Diptych by Samuel Levi Jones
The Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University has acquired the diptych Poplar Trees (2015) from artist Samuel Levi Jones. The work enhances the museum’s growing collection of contemporary art by artists of color, as well as a collection of work by Indiana artists. As an interpretation of a shameful event in Indiana’s history, Poplar Trees facilitates important reflections on the past as well as discussions about persisting inequalities.
IU Eskenazi Museum of Art to Present Exhibition of Drawings by Saul Steinberg
Magic Ledger: The Drawings of Saul Steinberg opens at the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University (IU) on January 27, 2024, and closes on June 2, 2024. The exhibition includes forty-three unique works selected from the recent gift of sixty-five drawings, twenty-one prints, and an annotated catalogue from The Saul Steinberg Foundation and six works acquired by the museum in the 1970s.

Eskenazi Museum of Art Announces Exhibition of Jeffrey A. Wolin’s Photography
Jeffrey A. Wolin is a celebrated and influential photographic artist and former longtime head of Indiana University’s photography department. Featuring one hundred works, this retrospective exhibition covers Wolin’s entire career with key selections from all ten of his major series. Best known for his innovative use of image/text combinations, Wolin has explored the living reality of history and the primacy of the personal experience.

The Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art is a recipient of the Frankenthaler Prints Initiative and will receive a selection of prints and preparatory drawings from the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation.
IU Eskenazi Museum of Art Hires Jean Graves as new Patricia and Joel Meier Chair of Education
The Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University (IU) has hired Jean A. Graves as the Patricia and Joel Meier Chair of Education. In addition to serving on the museum’s senior leadership team, Graves will oversee an education department that focuses on comprehensive course-connected experiences, pre-K–12 engagement, art therapy programs, and public programming. She will work with her team to develop a creative, mission-driven strategy for learning that prioritizes authentic experiences with works of art from the museum’s collection of more than 45,000 objects.
