Recent Acquisitions: The Captive by Ahren Ben-Shmuel

Although little known today, Ahron Ben-Shmuel was recognized as a leading American sculptor in the 1930s. The Captive will complement the Eskenazi Museum of Art’s holdings of German sculpture, revealing the international dissemination of Expressionism, and reintroducing a significant American modern artist to our visitors. ART MUSEUM CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS

The Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art is currently closed for renovations. It is expected to reopen in the fall of 2019. PreK-12 TEACHING AWARD ANNOUNCED

The Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University is seeking candidates for the Edward Maxedon Award for Excellence, Creativity, and Innovation in Art Education. Each year one PreK-12 teacher who exemplifies Mr. Maxedon’s belief in the value of talking about works of art will be recognized.  Learn more about the award and nomination process here.
