Our teaching museum story
As a teaching museum, we're proud of who we are and what we contribute. The Eskenazi Museum of Art has a history of leading in the teaching and learning field. Founded in 1941, we were among the first university teaching museums. We have an outstanding record of university student and faculty participation, including receiving the first U.S. endowment to support university-level teaching at the museum. Most recently, as the first university museum in the country with an art therapist, we are leading the practice and study of museums, art therapy, and wellness in reaching diverse audiences.
