Former IU Chancellor Herman B Wells had a dream of creating a world-renowned art museum that would inspire IU students to become "Global Citizens." And he hired Henry Radford Hope to do just that. So, in 1941, Hope came to Bloomington to head IU's art department and work on creating a proper art museum for the university. With Dr. Wells's encouragement, Hope was successful in creating one of the finest university art museums in the country.
