Getting Started with Collections Online
Learn how to make the most of this new resource from the Eskenazi Museum of Art
With generous support from the Office of the Provost, we have created an online portal that allows individuals from around the world to study objects from the museum's collection and use them for research, teaching, and more. With the eventual goal of access to all of the works in our collection, this initial launch features 500 select items from each of the museum's five curatorial areas. Learn how to make the most of Collections Online!
What information can I find on Collections Online?
- High-quality photography
- Each record in Collections Online includes a high-quality image that allows users to appreciate the color, quality, and detail of the original work of art.
- Complete artwork tombstones
- A "tombstone" contains essential information about a work of art: artist, title, date, medium, dimensions, and more. Whether you're researching an artwork or just curious about it, the tombstone provides a good starting point.
- Detailed, curator-written discussions
- Every artwork in our collection has an interesting story to tell. Collections Online allows the museum's curators to share their wealth of knowledge about artworks, artists, artistic styles, and more!
- New records added frequently
- Collections Online launched with a selection of 2,000 records from the museum's collection. We will continue to add works, so check back to see what's new!
How can I find the artwork I'm interested in?
Whether you know exactly what you want to find, or just want to explore the collection, you'll discover what you're looking for! You can search the collection by keyword, title, or artist. With more than 45,000 works of art, you're sure to find something you've never seen before.
How can I use the information I find on Collections Online?
You're welcome to use any information you find in Collections Online to further your own research, teaching, or creative activities. We encourage visitors to explore, make connections, and engage more deeply with our collection through the Collections Online portal.
