This round bowl has a wide mouth on a shallow neck. Its base is also rounded and sits on a tall stand. The bowl is decorated with a young woman seated on a bull. A flying figure leads the pair and a parade of women seated on sea animals follows them.

This vase, which concerns Zeus’s abduction of Europa, is not really a presentation of the narrative; rather, it assumes knowledge of the events and presents the characters involved in an elegant procession. Zeus, in the form of a white and red bull, carries Europa across a stretch of water. They are led by Eros, god of love, and followed by cavorting nymphs who ride various sea animals. The scene is beautifully decorative—with an interesting emphasis on jewelry. The movement of the procession draws the viewer around the masterfully formed pot, which would have been used for cooling and mixing wine.
