A horizontal black-and-white photograph depicts an older, light-skinned man and woman sitting on a metal frame bed facing the camera with somber expressions. They are each dressed in nice winter clothing, as if they are about to leave the home; the woman wears a long, dark coat with a decorative brooch on the lapel and a black hat with ribbon, the man wears a dark chambray shirt and a black wool three-piece suit. The room interior is decorated with floral wallpaper, light, floral curtains, a quilted bedspread, and a white lace doily on the bedside table.
Provenance research is ongoing for this and many other items in the Eskenazi Museum of Art permanent collection. For more information about the provenance of this artwork, please contact the department curator with specific questions.
