War Housing. Erie, PA. The entire framework, including sections for doors and windows, is fabricated horizontally. The crew working here will later move to another site and repeat the procedure. This circulation of crews who are experienced in one type of construction adds to the speed with which workers' homes are being built. Two crews of 40 men each are used to raise the stud frames of a 4 unit war-worker's home. On the project shown here, one crew started the framework at 8:30 AM fabricating it horizontally, and finished it at noon. The other crew moved in shortly after, erected the stud frames, ends and floor joints, and finished the entire framework by 4:30 PM the same day.
