A horizontal black-and-white photograph depicts a vibrant street scene with multiple signs, telephone poles, a parked car, and items for sale on the sidewalk. Some of the scenes read, "CURIOS | ANTIQUES | DO NOT STOP | IN DRIVEWAY," "MEXICAN CURIOS," "ROCERIES | FRUIT," D Pepper," "REGAL | BEER | CAFE." A person is just barely visible standing at a news stand and their face is obscured by a shadow.
Provenance research is ongoing for this and many other items in the Eskenazi Museum of Art permanent collection. For more information about the provenance of this artwork, please contact the department curator with specific questions.
