A sheep on a rectangular base, turns its head to the left. It has a small, pointed tail, rounded nostrils, and slightly bulging eyes. The fleece has carefully engraved individual strands.
The sheep stands quietly on the rhombus-shaped base, turning its head to the left. The simplicity of form nicely renders the idea of the thickness of the fleece, whose individual strands are carefully engraved. The head is well-structured, with particular emphasis given to the rounded nostrils and the slightly bulging eyes. The eyes and the small pointed tail are but summarily indicated.
Provenance research is ongoing for this and many other items in the Eskenazi Museum of Art permanent collection. For more information about the provenance of this artwork, please contact the department curator with specific questions.
