A deep, two-handled cup is supported by a stem on a flat base. The loop handles connect the center of the cup to the rim. A four-armed squid decorates the bowl of the cup between the handles on both sides.
Mycenaean and Minoan cultures existed alongside each other for some time, interacting through trade and in mutual artistic exchange. This elegant cup testifies to this artistic exchange: the chalice-like shape of the cup is a Mycenaean development, but the nautilus subject matter reflects the influence of Minoan "marine style" pottery.
