In this carving, the Virgin Mary cradles the Christ Child while Saint John the Evangelist holds a palm frond and Saint John the Baptist clutches a disc depicting a lamb (symbolizing Christ). The group stands beneath pointed arches, recalling the placement of sculptures of saints beneath arched canopies in many Gothic churches.
