Multi-limbed figure with the head of a bull wearing an elaborate headdress and tightly embracing his female consort.

In Tantric Buddhism the Union of male and female is the perfection of wisdom and compassion: the two made one. It is through wisdom or real selflessness that openness to the other transcendent world occurs and it is through compassion that one recognize the less real, but experiential world of suffering endured by other beings.
