Known for her rough-textured vessels, Marguerite Wildenhain was one of the leaders of the American studio pottery movement after World War II. Trained in Germany at the Bauhaus, she and her husband Frans moved to the Netherlands in the 1930s, and then to the United States. Wildenhain set up the Pond Farm ceramic studio in California, and inspired numerous students through her lectures and workshops around the country.
