About this Work

Known for his multi-layer dot paintings, Colin Jones is an artist of Kaladoon and Nunuckle descent. His paintings often relate to the lands his family historically lived on and to the animals of those areas. It is common in his works for there to be some reference to the Aboriginal peoples, often a footprint or handprint. In this example, seven small figures are depicted in the lower left of the painting.

Provenance research is ongoing for this and many other items in the Eskenazi Museum of Art permanent collection. For more information about the provenance of this artwork, please contact the department curator with specific questions.
