Notes:

[1] As given by Alice Strobl/Walter Koschatzky in their catalogue raisonné: Gustav Klimt: Die Zeichnungen. Vol. 1. Salzburg: Verlag Galerie Welz, 1980–84, cat. no. 808.

[2] Strobl/Koschatzky, cat. no. 808.

[3] Strobl/Koschatzky, cat. no. 808. Klimt gave Reininghaus a large number of his preparatory drawings for the frieze after the latter purchased it in 1907, saving it from certain destruction. Reininghaus inscribed these and other drawings in his collection with an “R,” typically found on the recto. According to Strobl, the present drawing also bore this inscription, but it has since been erased (as described in the German in the catalog: “wurde vertilgt”).
