1978, Gift to the Indiana University Art Museum from Bernhard and Cola Heiden, Bloomington IN

?–1978, Collection of Bernhard and Cola Heiden, Bloomington, IN [1]

Notes:

[1] Bernhard Heiden (1910–2000) and his wife Cola (1910–1999; née de Joncheere) emigrated to the United States in 1935 to escape persecution as Jews during the Third Reich. The Heidens settled in Bloomington in 1946 when Bernhard joined the music school faculty. The couple inherited much of their art collection from his parents, but it remains uncertain whether this drawing was among them.

Provenance research is ongoing for this and many other items in the Eskenazi Museum of Art permanent collection. For more information about the provenance of this artwork, please contact the department curator with specific questions.
