The Crucifixion (Christ on the Cross)

As an artist proficient in many genres, Agostino Carracci pursued a profitable printmaking profession. Many of his engravings reproduce paintings by other artists, although his interest in original design grew over the course of his career. This engraving is after Paolo Veronese’s painting in the church of San Sebastiano in Venice (1565–75).
