Head of a Girl, Turning (Mädchenkopf sich umwendend)

One of the pioneers of German Expressionist sculpture, Lehmbruck imbued his figural works with a sense of psychological depth. His elongated busts and figures reveal the influence of Gothic art, which was much admired by German artists in the early twentieth century.
