The Fireplace, Green Street

The American Impressionist Daniel Garber was born in North Manchester, Indiana, and educated at art schools in Cincinnati and Philadelphia. This sensitively rendered image of Garber’s wife is set in the family’s townhouse on Green Street in Philadelphia. Mary Franklin Garber gazes here at her husband’s painting Delaware Garden, hanging above the fireplace. The painting’s quiet mood and evocative rendering of light are hallmarks of Garber’s style.
