Western Africa

The museum’s western African art collection presents a broad sweep of art from the Sahel (the region just south of the Sahara Desert) to the tropical forests of the coast. It showcases an array of figures, masks, ceremonial objects, and commemorative pieces made with a variety of materials and techniques.
