About this Work

The cross is attached to a double loop with a hinge pin fastened to a multifaceted bead. The front and back of the cross each are constructed separately and were subsequently joined. Each side consists of an outer and inner frame mounted with the narrow interstice between them filled with red glass-paste. Inside the inner casing a more elaborate ornamentation has been set. The circles at the end of the arms have been added separately.

On Side A, a broader central medallion with a multiple, even-armed cross motif finds its design repeated in the outer roundels of the cross arms. Along the arms runs an intricate S-scroll design in blue, the scroll-eyes filled with red. Side B repeats as its main motif a simplified version of the multiple cross. The interior is laid out in blue, the center is marked by a red dot. In the roundels lie small circular designs: small crosses standing on a triangle with a halo center against red.
