About this Work

After travels to Rome and Paris, where she came into contact with pioneering modernist sculptors, Barbara Hepworth settled in 1939 in St. Ives, Cornwall, where she produced a significant body of abstract sculptures. Through the juxtaposition of geometric forms, she explored the relationships between human beings and between humans and the landscape.
