Notes:

[1] Solley (1924–2006) was a member of the Lilly family, renowned for its philanthropy, as well as for its art collection. He served as director of the Indiana University Art Museum from 1971 until 1986.

[2] Chicago native Richard L. Feigen (1930–2021) began collecting at a young age and went on to open the first branch of gallery in 1957. Feigen was an early American advocate for German expressionism, which he also collected.
