[1] The Metropolitan Museum of Art had a large sale of deaccessioned art from its Egyptian collection.

[2] William Lowe Bryan (1860-1955) was President of Indiana University from 1902-1937. After his death, a memorial fund was established in his honor; this fund supported the purchase of art for the Indiana University Art Museum.

[3] Theodore M. Davis (1938-1915) was a businessman and lawyer based primarily in New York City. He was an art collector and, from 1902, a private sponsor of the Egyptian Antiquities Service's excavations in the Valley of the Kings.
