Notes:

[1] The Metropolitan Museum of Art had a large sale of deaccessioned art from its Egyptian collection.

[2] William Lowe Bryan (1860-1955) was President of Indiana University from 1902-1937. After his death, a memorial fund was established in his honor; this fund supported the purchase of art for the Indiana University Art Museum.

[3] Darius Ogden Mills (1825-1910) was banker, real estate investor, and philanthropist, operating in New York City, but also in California and throughout New York state. He served as president of the New York Botanical Garden and a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History, and American Geographical Society. He was an avid art collector.
