[1] The Metropolitan Museum of Art had a large sale of deaccessioned art from its Egyptian collection.

[2] William Lowe Bryan (1860-1955) was President of Indiana University from 1902-1937. After his death, a memorial fund was established in his honor; this fund supported the purchase of art for the Indiana University Art Museum.

[3] Hattie Klee Straus (1870-1966) was the wife of American banker and financier Simon William Straus (1866-1930). She was a life member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was on the board of the New York Philharmonic.
