About this Work

This small intaglio print--printed at Atelier 17 in New York and published by Curt Valentin--recalls some of the artist's favorite earlier motifs, such as moons, stars, and truncated figures, while at the same time suggesting the emergence of new amoebic shapes. These odd creatures, which appear both extraterrestrial and sub-aquatic, float in an undefined mystical space.

Provenance research is ongoing for this and many other items in the Eskenazi Museum of Art permanent collection. For more information about the provenance of this artwork, please contact the department curator with specific questions.
