About this Work

This portrait depicts a Bozo tailor and his wife or girlfriend within a heart-shaped frame designed to emphasize the couple's intimate relationship. In addition to the Toi et Moi ("You and Me" title), the frame includes the words Mon Coeur (my heart) as well as a credit line for Sitou's studio, where his name was given the French phonetic spelling of "Chitou."
