About this Work

The sharpness and control associated with a blade make it an apt symbol for the power associated with money. Although many currencies are copper-based metals, blade currency is most often iron, the more difficult of the two metals to work.

Provenance research is ongoing for this and many other items in the Eskenazi Museum of Art permanent collection. For more information about the provenance of this artwork, please contact the department curator with specific questions.
