IU Arts Plaza
First Thursdays is a monthly festival showcasing the diversity of arts and humanities on campus and throughout the Bloomington community. On the first Thursday of each warm-weather month, the Council and its friends join together in the Fine Arts Plaza (right in front of the IU Auditorium) for an evening of performances, hands-on creative activities, community-building, great food, and fun!
The April First Thursday event will feature two opportunities from the Eskenazi Museum of Art:
Better Experience Pop-Up Help the Eskenazi Museum of Art prepare to reopen. Test a new Guest Experience Menu, share your feedback, and enjoy a free cookie.
Open Studio: Alebrijes! People, even famous artists, collect art. What do you collect? Help us paint alebrijes, an sculptural artform that originated in Mexico City and was collected by famous artist Diego Rivera. We'll paint a replica of what Rivera collected, the art in it's early form, as well as an example of what alebrijes later became. When you collect, you see how an artist's work evolves.
