5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
Thursday, February 2, 2017
Join us for a night of extended evening hours, fun, food, and festivities at the Eskenazi Museum of Art's First Thursday.
Our February event will celebrate Black History Month and the final week to see our current special exhibitions, a mid-career retrospective of Vik Muniz, and "Giambattista and Domenico Tiepolo: Master Drawings from the Moravec Collection." There will be an Art-side Chat in the Muniz exhibition from 6-7pm. You can play our popular I-Spy game through the exhibition, and take a crack at painting with chocolate in the museum atrium.
Also in the atrium, African-American artist Charles Audu, will be designing a participatory art project called "Hidden Faces" which blends color-by-numbers with learning about African-American history. The Neal Marshall Black Culture Center will be hosting a WIkipedia Edit-a-Thon, and there will be live music by DJ White Light White Heath of Landlocked Music, a cash bar, and food by Chef David Tallent and IU Traditions Catering.
In our first floor gallery, you'll be able to learn about artwork by prominent African-American artists in the museum's collection, and check out a Live Poetry Performance hosted by the African American and African Diaspora Studies Department.
First Thursdays is free and open to the public. So grab the family or a friend and come by First Thursdays at the art museum.
