75th Anniversary Big Birthday Bash

Celebrate IU Art Museum's 75th birthday with a museum-wide party featuring music, swing dance lessons, poetry-on-demand, storytelling, tours, photo booth, cupcakes, ice cream, and more. Swing dancing, 5-9 p.m., Swing Lessons 6-7 p.m., first floor atrium
Learn swing dance moves from the IU Swing Dance Club instructors

Art-making lessons, 5-8 p.m., sculpture terrace and mezzanine
Learn origami, Chinese calligraphy, or the art of doodling from Hutton Honors College students. 
Make fun props for the photo booth with Art Museum Student Organization volunteers.

Stories of Kenya, 5:30 p.m., Special Exhibitions Gallery, first floor
Explore Kenya with stories told by Beatric Nq'uono Okelo, Associate Professor, African Studies Program. 

Poetry-on-demand, 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., Gallery of the Art of the Western World, first floor
Tell a birthday or anniversary tale to a Writers' Guild poet and, clickety-clack, receive an original poem inspired by your story. 

Harp, 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., Gallery of the Arts of Asia and the Ancient Western World, second floor
Enjoy a live harp performance by Jacobs School of Music student Shuang Liu. 

Tales of Africa, 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., Wielgus Gallery of Art of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, third floor
Travel to faraway lands as Patty Callison and Ginny Richey share captivating tales of Africa. 

Explore any of the four galleries with a docent, 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m.

Angles Cafe and Gift Shop will be open during the party and will be holding a special one-day sale with discounts on IU Art Museum related items including scarves, mugs, puzzles, eraser and pencil sets, and more.
